As a Michael’s blogger, I was able to attend the Michael’s Pinterest Party and have a lot of fun hanging out in the store to craft. This week, I threw my own Pinterest inspired party to get everyone in the holiday spirit. I had some girlfriends over and we made a lot of Christmas gifts. The whole point is to take those pins from your Pinterest boards and really make them. Michaels was kind enough to provide a gift card to cover our crafting supplies.
Everyone left with about 8 gifts for neighbors, friends, teachers, etc. Michael’s even sent us some printed napkins, cups, and balloons to make the party extra special.
Let me walk you through some of the projects we made:
Decorative Chargers:
Michaels carries a wide variety of inexpensive charger plates. You can pick your favorite color and decorate with some vinyl.
Supplies available at Michaels: Chargers, Cricut brand vinyl
Painted Canvas:
Before the party, I spray painted all of the canvases. Next you apply a layer or two of Mod Podge, so the vinyl has something to stick to. Once that is completely dry, you can apply vinyl if you wish. You could use stencils to make a beautiful piece of canvas art too.
Supplies available at Michaels: Canvas, spray paint, Mod Podge, Cricut brand vinyl
Glitter Ornaments:
I wrote up a whole post about how to make these Glitter Ornaments. All you need is clear ornaments, glitter, and Mop & Glo.
Supplies available at Michaels: Ornaments, Extra fine Glitter, Ribbon (for hanging)
Hot Cocoa baskets with stir spoons:
I picked up some baskets and buckets from Michaels. We made some homemade hot cocoa mix(recipe coming soon) and put them in pint size jars. Then we made some hot chocolate stir spoons using Wilton brand flavored candy melts and sprinkles. We used Peppermint, Pumpkin Spice, and Gingerbread candy melts. I can’t wait to see how they taste in the hot chocolate. Once the candy melts have set up, wrap in a 3″x4″ cellophane bag and secure with a twist tie.
Supplies available at Michaels: Small Baskets, Candy melts, cellophane bags, twist ties
Decorative Treat Cups:
I also thought it would be fun to take our Michaels cups and add some vinyl. You could wrap up some cookies or candy in cellophane and you have the perfect small gift. This would also be very cool if you ordered custom cups with a holiday message on it.
Supplies available at Michaels: Custom cups available online, Cricut brand vinyl, cellophane
The party itself was a ton of fun. I set up a supply table with the examples and most of the supplies. I couldn’t fit all the vinyl I cut on one table though!
Here they are just crafting away.
I snagged a few photos that my friends posted on Instagram of their projects. You can follow along with all of the fun on instagram by looking up the hashtag #MPinterestParty. This is Laura’s photo from PinkCakePlate. I love when blog friends become real life friends too.
These are my Sister-in-law’s projects.
I think everybody got a good jump start to their Christmas gifts. Thanks Michaels for sponsoring such a fun event. I really hope this encourages you to get out there and get crafting, instead of just pinning.

I would love to do something like that, looks like so much fun. I am fairly new to my Cameo, so I have a question for you. For the “o” in Joy, did you put the red vinyl down first, then layer the white vinyl on top? Love the designs you used, they are all so cute 🙂

So fun! We should do something like this more often! Apparently we need a reason or we don’t see each other! 😜
