Thank you to
Week 1 was called ‘Out and About’ and there were activities focusing on your neighborhood, the country, and even the whole world. There was a neighborhood passport where you can document the different places you visit like the park, movie theater, stores, and the bank. My youngest doesn’t really write yet, so she drew pictures of the different places we went.
My sons favorite activity the first week was a map activity. You colored a map of the United States and then cut out and landmarks and glued them on the map in the correct spot. It was nice to have a little geography lesson plus talk about some of the really cool things there are to see.
Week 2 is about Caring for Animals. My daughter is a huge animal lover, and she has really loved this week. In addition to the printables and activities we visited the local pet store and talked about all the things that animals need to be properly cared for.
The favorite activity this week though was making a bird house. My son can be difficult to engage in coloring and craft projects. So to get his attention, we decided to make an Angry Birds, bird house. He got SO into it. We spent nearly two hours cutting, coloring, and planning the bird house out. The best part was when we were all done, my son said, “Thanks Mommy for letting us build an Angry birds bird house.”
It was a pretty basic affair. I found some Angry Birds Coloring sheets on the internet, which we colored and cut out the birds. We covered a juice container with paper, made a sling shot with popsicle sticks. Then we cut a golf ball size hole and added a dowel perch. Every week on the LeapFrog Facebook page there is a Summer Camp contest. If you submit a picture of one of the activities you can win a prize.
There are eight weeks of Summer Camp, so there is plenty of time to sign up and participate. If you want to see the full list of themes you can go HERE. I think I am most excited for the Puzzles week. I LOVE all kinds of puzzles and I hope the kids will have a lot of fun with them too.
What activities do you think your kids would be the most excited to do?
