I participated in an Influencer Program on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for OshKosh B’gosh. That means I received a gift card to take a shopping trip to OshKosh B’gosh. It’s holiday picture time which can be stressful and a little pricey if you aren’t careful. I decided that getting outfits for the kids from OshKosh B’gosh would be a perfect use of my $100. Well I was pleasantly surprised that I got their Christmas card outfits and a whole lot more!
Check out all the stuff I got! Here’s a quick list: 3 T-shirts, 1 button down, 1 blouse, 1 jeans, 2 leggings, 1 skinny jeans, and one lined jeans. That’s 10 articles of clothing for $100. With tax, the total was $108.
One of the ways I was able to get such an awesome deal is that I had a coupon for 25% off a purchase of $25 or more. I’ll have the very same coupon to share with you at the end of the post.
They also had an in-store promotion going that for every $50 you spend, you get $10 reward dollars. I went back the next day and picked up two more tops and another pair of jeans with my $20 in rewards. The subtotal of these three pieces was $24.
10 Tips for a successful kids photo shoot
- Make sure your kids are fed and well rested.
- Pick a location that the kids will enjoy too. I tend to get my best photos at parks. The want to be there and they are happier.
- Let them get into a position they find comfortable and then do little positioning tweaks as necessary.
- Don’t afraid to get silly. Genuine smiles and giggles look the best on camera.
- To get a natural smile, tell your kids to make a very serious face. Then give them a 3 count and have them smile. You have a much better chance of getting a genuine face instead of that forced “cheese” face.
- Let the kids lead the photo shoot. If they want to wander over in the field, follow them and snap away.
- Take breaks if necessary. If things are starting to break down, take a little breather, relax, and try again in a few minutes.
- Stay relaxed. I know I put myself under a lot of stress when I’m trying to get a good shot. The kids can see the stress and things go downhill from there.
- Don’t be afraid of a little bribery. The incentive of a post photo shoot treat can do a lot to encourage cooperation.
- Have fun with it! They only stay small for a short time. Make it a positive experience and even if you don’t get that million dollar shot, you’ll still be happy you had a great time together.
