Over the next week or so I’m going to be showing you some of the fun details from my sister’s wedding. She was married on July 4, 2013 so the whole wedding was red, white, and blue! Everything was so beautiful, classic, and fun all at the same time. I was so honored to be able to help out with a few details in the wedding.
Today’s post is going to be about the Wedding Mad Libs that we did. It was a fun way for the bride and groom to get some funny thoughts and advice from the guests. It was also something fun for the guests to do in any down time. The cards and pens were at each place setting when the guests came in to the reception .
I really tried to think of a way to make the template generic enough to share. I couldn’t think of any really good way as it is pretty personalized. Instead, I will just provide the text that we used so that you can make up your own template in your favorite word processor. Substitute the BRIDE and GROOM with the actual names of the bride and groom.

Let me also explain how mad libs work, if you have never played them before. Normally, Person A would ask Person B for all the different parts of speech in the parenthesis. Person B wouldn’t know the rest of the words in the story. Then when all the words are filled in, Person A would read back the goofy and usually nonsensical story. In a wedding reception setting, it’s likely that the guests will just fill in their own papers and that is just fine too. I bet you’ll get some hilarious responses either way.
There was a special box on of the tables designated for the Mad Libs. If I recall, the staff at the venue also helped gather up any that were left at the tables.
I’m so excited to show you some of the general details from the wedding. No detail was too small to be considered. My sister really went all out and it was just a wonderful day!
If you don’t want to incorporate this into the reception, this could really make a fun bridal shower activity too!
