As promised, here are some more pictures from my sister’s beautiful July 4th wedding. The wedding colors were red, white, and blue. The whole wedding was just a wonderful patriotic affair. I have lots of varied details to share from the popcorn bar to the star luminaries so stick with me!
When guests arrived, there was a table for gifts and this neat wedding cake card box that my sister crafted.
We took a set of nesting boxes and painted them white and added lots of iridescent glitter. The bottom tier had a hole cut for the cards and a rhinestone trim was added to give it a finished look. A fabric rose trim was added to each layer and a heart topper put on top.
For part of the ceremony, they each poured sand into a unity sand frame. I had only ever seen a unity candle before. I loved the sand! It looks so pretty. Music is a big part of my sister’s life, so they used some rolled up sheet music to funnel the sand. It was a subtle but neat detail.
Now I’m jumping to the reception! Each table had a slightly different centerpiece, but they all were unified in their theme. The table numbers were something that we crafted. We put scrapbook paper in Tolsby frames from IKEA. I cut the table number from vinyl with my Silhouette.
Throughout the ceremony and reception there were a lot of Eiffel Tower vases. They come in different heights and they are so pretty and elegant!
It has become quite popular to have food ‘bars’ set up for guests to make themselves a little goody box wedding favor. Keeping with the the Americana theme, my sister decided to do a popcorn bar. Lark’s Country Heart, who happened to be one of the bridesmaids as well, made all of the popcorn. There was Caramel, Berry, Cake Batter, and White Chocolate Peanut Butter. Each flavor of popcorn was served in a galvanized steel tub. There were little popcorn boxes with the date and the couples name on it to put your popcorn in. This was a huge hit with all of the guests, especially the kids!
Here’s another fun idea for any type of wedding. Instead of making the rounds from table to table, the bride and groom added a few chairs to the front of the head table. That way people could stop by and say hello. It gave my sister and her new husband a chance to sit down and eat too!
The wedding venue used to be a private residence and it has a pool. To help carry the theme as well as keep people out of the pool, my sister made some really pretty star luminaries. This one was so easy to DIY. She printed a filigree star design on some clear sticker paper and stuck them to white lunch sacks. Then she used a border punch to make the top of the bag pretty. Stamping through all the layers of the bag was quick to dull the punches, but it can be done!
Almost done! Here are two last little details from the reception that I just loved. My sister painted some American flag themed baseballs. She placed them in a star shaped basket that I happened to find at Goodwill.
The reception was in an air-conditioned tent. There were beautiful red and blue paper lanterns hanging all over the ceiling. They were really huge lanterns too. If you look down at the people you can get some idea of the scale. They varied in size but I would say the big ones were at least 24″-36″ paper lanterns.
It’s been almost a year since their wedding, and putting together this post has been such a fun walk down memory lane. Every last detail was so amazing and I wish I could share them all with you!
Don’t forget to check out the wedding mad libs that I shared a few days ago too!
Ok, ok one last shot! Here are the bride and groom leaving the reception.
Have a happy and safe Independence Day!
