I love to read and I am trying really hard to foster that same love of reading in my children. It can be a real challenge when reading is also competing with TV shows, video games, tablets, and all of the other entertainment options that kids have these days. I am so grateful that we have access to lots of books and several libraries in our area. I just read about a boy that asked his mailman for any extra junk mail because he didn’t have any books and couldn’t get to a library. This just broke my heart. My mom taught a kindergarten class many years ago and most of the families were lower-income. A boy came to school and said that he had practiced writing his letters like he was supposed to, but he wrote on the walls because they didn’t have and couldn’t get any paper. I think a lot of people, including myself, take for granted things like books to read and paper to write on.
That is why I jumped at the opportunity to share this Free Book offer that Kellogg’s is offering at Sam’s Club. It’s a pretty simple concept, choose from 13 select Kellogg’s products that have the 1 box = 2 books logo at Sam’s Club. Enter the code online and get 1 book for yourself and 1 book is donated to a school in need. If you are feeling particularly generous, you can donate both books. You get the opportunity to stock up your pantry for back to school, and support literacy. I should mention that these are full-length books from Scholastic that Kellogg’s is donating. This year they have some e-book options and even some books in Spanish as well. Let me walk you through the whole process.
- Buy any one of 13 specially marked Kellogg’s products at Sam’s Club
- Go to the Kellogg’s Family Reward site and click on “ENTER CODE NOW”

I highly recommend heading to Sam’s Club and picking up some Kellogg’s products. My husband eats Frosted Mini Wheats® every day for breakfast and that is one of the select products. Another good choice Nutri-Grain® Soft Baked Breakfast Bars. They are perfect for a breakfast on the go or a nutritious snack. Before you head to Sam’s Club you need to know that August 22-23, they are having an in-store demo. Why not try out some of these products before you buy? Check this list, http://cbi.as/mggc, to find the nearest store demo.
We stopped in for a demo and got to try out Keebler® Mini Fudge Stripes™ Original Cookies and Kellogg’s® Fruity Snacks. They were a big hit, as you can imagine. The friendly Sam’s Club employee can also give you information about the 1 box = 2 books deal.
When you are in Sam’s Club the participating products should be really easy to find. There was a huge display right as you entered the store. It’s pretty impossible to miss.
I ended up purchasing two boxes of Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies Treats®. I had something very particular in mind for them too. I was asked to donate a copy of Super Cute Crispy Treats for a silent auction. How perfect would it be to make a whole gift basket of products instead? My idea was to include the book, some sprinkles, cookie cutters, and Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies Treats® to get you started making some fun treats. I think the basket turned out darling and I am totally going to be putting together some of these baskets for the holidays.
What a fun way to jump start someone’s creativity in the kitchen. I am also loving that I’m giving back twice. Through Kellogg’s, I donated a Scholastic book and now the Rice Krispies Treats® are going in a silent auction to raise money for a great cause.

Oh and thanks for the gift basket idea. I bought 2 of your books to give away. Putting the books in a gift basket makes it a “way fun” gift.

The Rice Krispies Treats basket is such a cute idea! It’s great how Kellogg’s has partnered with Scholastic to help families and schools build their libraries. #client
