My son is going to be 10 before I know it. Every year there is much angst, mostly by me, over what to take to school. Our state forbids any treats made at home, which I think is pretty common. Our district has very strict dietary guidelines as well. They are enforced too! I totally understand the policy and I support it, but it can take the fun out of birthday planning. My son and I were both over the moon excited when we went into Walmart and saw the new MARVEL Chewy Granola bars. They taste good, they have a fun theme, and we can take them to school for his birthday! Here’s another perk, Super Hero Snack Bars are 40% bigger based on weight of 24g chewy bar. Perfect for hungry school kids at snack time.
The bars come in two different varieties, Chocolate Chip and Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip. We went with the Chocolate Chip to avoid potential nut allergies. Always check labels, but the Chocolate Chip variety did not have any nut warnings whatsoever. They were hard to miss in Walmart. There was a big display at the front of the store. You can also find them on the cereal and toaster pastries aisle.
Each box has a collector card on the box, four cards total. The outside of the box has trivia about the character featured on the collector card. The trivia was pretty challenging. My husband got a few of them wrong and he’s a big MARVEL fan. You’ll definitely learn a thing or two about your favorite super heroes.
I wanted to make the granola bars extra special since they were for my son’s birthday. The original plan was to make some trivia questions and include a birthday message. When I opened the package though, I discovered that each of the granola bars has a fact about the MARVEL hero on the packaging. There are six heroes featured total. You can find Captain America, Hulk, Spider Man, Iron Man, Black Widow, and Thor wrappers.
I feel like the folks at MARVEL were trying to help me out. All I had to do was design a fun birthday message to tape to the back of the granola bar. So perfect! It’s not too cutesy so the 10 year old is happy and not at all embarrassed. That is getting harder to do these days.
This is so simple and perfect for even the busiest of mom’s. I made up a sheet of labels that are 10 to a page. Print however many pages you need, cut out and tape onto the granola bars. This is what the sheet looks like. The actual printable is a PDF document which you can download. Print. Cut. Tape. Done!

I also picked up an Avenger’s gift bag while I was at Walmart. You can see it in the first image of the post. I figured it would help tie in the theme and make it easier to carry and pass out the birthday treats. The bag was in the card aisle.
