I love getting together with girlfriends for craft nights. It’s such a great opportunity to get the creative juices flowing and regain my Mom-sanity. Thanks to Expressions Vinyl for sending a great selection of heat transfer vinyl so us ladies had an excuse for some much-needed girl time. I was most excited to try out the holographic vinyl. I’ve had lots of experience with regular heat transfer vinyl but I’ve never tried out the holographic before. Oh, I am in love!
The picture above shows (from left to right) Glow-in-the-Dark vinyl, holographic vinyl, and glitter vinyl. All the sparkle and shine make my heart happy.
If you haven’t worked with Heat Transfer Vinyl before there are a few things you need. First, is a cutting machine. I’m quite partial to my Silhouette Cameo. The second thing that you need is a heat press. Heat Transfer Vinyl is applied by using high heat and pressure to adhere the vinyl to your garment. It is possible to use an iron with heat transfer vinyl but I can’t say I recommend it. Some of the ladies at the craft night had mentioned they had used Cricut or Silhouette brand vinyl and ironed it on. It peeled off! I’ve never had an issue with peeling since getting a heat press.
There is one other thing you need before you can make some awesome shirts. Quality heat transfer vinyl from Expressions Vinyl. You might be able to find some heat transfer material at the craft store, but I implore you not to get it. The quality and selection just doesn’t come close. If you want your shirts to last wash after wash, Expressions Vinyl is the way to go.
Let’s get to the shirts! I did two different designs with the holographic vinyl. The first is this fun pineapple shirt. It says, “Be a pineapple. Stand tall, wear a crown and be sweet.” I just love the saying and I thought it would look awesome with the gold crystal holographic vinyl.
It does look awesome, but it’s a little hard to photograph. You really need to see the movement of the shirt to get the full effect. I tried my hand at making a GIF so you can really see it shine in the light. All the ladies were ‘oohing’ and ‘aahing’ over the shirt. I’m seriously over the moon excited about the holographic vinyl. I loved the design and vinyl so much, I made a shirt for myself and my niece.
I’m equally excited about this next design. My niece was turning 12 and wanted some fun tanks for her dance class. My sister sent me over the idea “Throw kindness around like Confetti.” I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect shirt idea for the silver holographic vinyl. It looks just like sparkly confetti.
This shirt was another winner. Everyone at my niece’s birthday party loved it and was wanting to order their own! I also love that the shirts have positive uplifting messages. I much prefer that to some of the sassy sentiments you find on shirts these days. Want to make your own? Stick around to the end, I’m sharing this design!
I mentioned that I’m a big fan of glitter vinyl too. It’s really bright and sparkly, but it doesn’t shed off of the shirt. So you get all the fun of glitter without leaving a sparkly trail of glitter everywhere you go.
I wasn’t the only one crafting away. Just look at what we accomplished in one night! This isn’t even everything we made. Several of the ladies were going to Disney World for Disney Social Media Moms Celebration, so that’s why you see so much Disney represented.
