I am so excited to be participating in the popcorn box blog hop this year! Laura Kelly Designs organizes this great project where 50 bloggers make-over a popcorn box. There are no rules, it’s all about creativity. There is also a sweet giveaway to enter too! This is my first year to participate an I am so excited! I turned my popcorn box into this fun spooky eye popcorn box. My favorite part is that the spooky eyes are rings, so it doubles as a party favor too. I couldn’t serve plain old popcorn in my box, so I created a delicious recipe for Pumpkin Spice Popcorn Mix. Both projects are so simple, and I can’t wait to tell you how to do it.

Spooky Eye Popcorn Box

Materials:

Popcorn Box
Black Glitter Paper
Spooky Eyes rings
Glue
Utility Blade

Directions:

Trace the popcorn box onto black glitter paper and cut out.
Glue the paper to the box with any glue you like. I used glue dots.
Use a Utility blade to cut slits about 1.5″ long where you want the rings to be. Cut a smaller line perpendicular to the first so the rings can be easily inserted.
Insert the rings and fill with Pumpkin Spice Popcorn Mix.

This was a really fun and fast project. The whole thing took about 15 minutes. I put the eyes all the way around the box, with the intention that guests would take a ring when the party was through. You could get really ambitious and make each person their own popcorn box with only one eye ring in it.

Now let’s talk about the popcorn. I saw pumpkin spice chips at the store and I just knew they would be perfect for this.

Pumpkin Spice Popcorn Mix

Popcorn, Pumpkin Spice chips, marshmallows, and pretzels make a delicious fall inspired salty and sweet treat.

Ingredients

1 bag simply salt microwave popcorn, popped
⅓ cup pumpkin spice chips
1/2 cups Candy Corn Marshmallows
Utz Pumpkin and Bat Shaped Pretzels

Instructions

Pop the popcorn in the microwave according to package instructions. Dump the popped corn into a bowl.
Melt the pumpkin spice chips in the microwave in 30 second increments until completely melted. Drizzle the popcorn wit the melted chips then stir to incorporate. Drizzle and stir several times until the popcorn has good coverage. Allow the chocolate to set. The refrigerator is a great short-cut option.
Add the candy corn marshmallows and pretzels and toss or lightly stir to incorporate into a mix.

This popcorn mix isn’t meant to stick together in clumps. It’s meant more that one bite might be popcorn, and the next bite could be a marshmallow or pretzel. If you eat this by the handful, which will be awfully tempting, then you might get a bite of all three. 😉
