I love spring for a lot of reasons! The weather is amazing, baseball season is starting up, and the end of the school year is in sight. Unfortunately, spring also means it’s time for spring cleaning. As much as I enjoy having a clean house, passing the white glove test is just not that crucial to me. I could blame it on my creative side thriving in a little clutter but really it might just be a little more that I’m lazy when it comes to cleaning. There are so many other things higher on my list of priorities, that I just find it a struggle. Whew, that feels great to admit. I’m a good wife, a good mother, a good person, but I don’t enjoy cleaning very much.
So while I understand it needs to get done, spring cleaning is just not my favorite. To that end, I’m partnering with Kimberly-Clark and The Motherhood to bring you this list of tips of tricks to get your house spring-ready in no time! Things that help you get the done job faster, easier, and with less elbow grease.
Spring Cleaning Tips for the Lazy
-
Keep a caddy of cleaning supplies and Viva® paper towels that you can carry around the house. You’ll be more motivated to get the job done if everything you need is one place.
-
Reduce running around by keeping a catch-all basket around. When you find an item that belongs in a different area, put it in the basket. When you’re ready to move on take the basket and put everything away. No more running from room to room getting distracted.
-
Use the attachment arm to vacuum baseboards. Saves time and your back. For stains and stubborn dirt, use damp Viva Towels. They are strong enough to hold up to multiple rinses.
-
Steam clean the microwave by heating a 1:1 mixture of vinegar and water until it steams. That cooked on gunk will wipe right off with Viva Towels.
-
While the mattress cover is in the washing machine, refresh your mattress with a sprinkling of baking soda.
-
Use ammonia to clean your oven. You can use ammonia to clean the drip pans, stove top, and even inside your oven. My favorite is to soak the drip pans in a plastic bag with 1/4 cup ammonia for 12-24 hours. The grease and muck should wipe right off.
-
Use the dishwasher to clean everything from the stove hood filter to make-up brushes and mop covers. Seriously! Skip the manual labor and wash it in the dishwasher!
-
In the bathroom, soak Viva Vantage Towels in vinegar and wrap them around the faucet. Let sit for 30-60 minutes and wipe those hard water stains away. The scrubby texture of the Viva Vantage towels will help get off any grime if you need to do a little scrubbing.
-
Speaking of the bathroom, make sure you stock up on all your essentials this spring like Cottonelle® Clean Care. Keep your bum as clean and fresh as the rest of your house.
-
No one wants to find themselves unprepared in the bathroom, don’t forget the Scott® 1000. Pick up a 20 roll pack of Scott 1000 and you’ll be all set. There are 1000 sheets in each roll after all.
-
Break the cleaning into small chunks. It won’t be so overwhelming and you’ll feel a sense of accomplishment with each task completed.
-
Oh and here’s one more bonus tip! Pet hair sticks to rubber, so use those rubber gloves for a quick way to clean up after your animals.
Now that you’re all ready to get cleaning. Stop into Walmart with this spring shopping list, so you’ll have everything you need. No one wants to stop mid-task because they ran out of something. Set yourself up for success and be prepared before you begin.
Before you go to the store, check out the Kimberly-Clark Family care site to see all the products and deals you can find at Walmart.

Great tips! I never knew that pet hair sticks to rubber. Good to know as I have dog hair coming out the wazoo.

I am truly lazy because I pay someone to do it for me. And honest to god, it is worth every single penny!

I hate cleaning, too! You had me at the title – not that I’m lazy, there’s just so many other things I’d rather be doing. Thanks so much for all the great tips. I keep a caddy in the bathroom and one in the kitchen. That way I can give the bathroom a quick clean several times a week so that it doesn’t build up to a big clean.

Vinger soak totally amazes me! I’ve never tried anything this simple to polish around the faucets. BTW, I’m a huge fan of Viva towels – they are the softest in the market.
