Mardi Gras bunco was so much fun. My only regret was not getting a chance to tie in “Let the Good Times Roll” a little bit more. Maybe next year I’ll host in march again and do it all over again!
We did King ‘cupcakes’ instead of a king cake. They are actually Butter cupcakes with a rootbeer cream cheese filling and a root beer frosting. I used Wilton Spray color for a purple tint and sprinkled on some Edible Glitter Gold.
I took the cupcake tray around to everyone and had them pick a cupcake. One of them had a baby inside. Somehow I ended up with the baby! I should have paid more attention to which one I put the baby in.
We put treats at each table for people to munch on. I didn’t find any Mardi Gras style treats, but I did find those green and purple “bowls” at the Dollar Tree. The Gerber daisies and green metallic shred game from Dollar Tree too!
Dollar Tree was really the only place I found reasonably priced Mardi Gras decor. The party store did but the prices were outrageous. I found these plates and napkins. Conveniently, they came in a pack of 12.
For the food, I served Jambalaya using Zatarain’s recipe created by Chef John Besh. I also used Zatarain’s recipe for red beans and rice dip.
That was my favorite! I have a bean dip recipe that I love and this might have topped it. You can find lots of recipes at Zatarain’s. I had never had jambalaya or red beans and rice and I really like them both.
We also had these yummy slushes that I shared here.
It’s pretty hard to play Bunco and take pictures at the same time, so when we were done my husband took a group shot of everyone in their masks. It was such a fun night! I love all my Bunco ladies, they are so fun and hilarious to be around.
Oh and I almost forgot. The King of Mardi Gras was the luck lady to get the most Buncos. Our Jester there was the gal that got the low score! I’m so glad everyone is such a good sport!

Looks like a fabulous party! If you know you are going to host next year, I would hit the party store now and stock up on Mardi Gras supplies.
