Fleischmann’s sent me a box of their new Simply Homemade Cornbread Baking Mix to create a recipe. I decided to give it a try with my go-to cornbread cake recipe. It’s only three ingredients, and beyond delicious! Oh and it’s so simple too. Mix, dump, and then bake. May I present, Sweet Cornbread Cake.
Sweet Cornbread Cake
Ingredients:
1 15 oz box Fleischmann’s Simply Homemade Cornbread Mix
2 cans Creamed Style Corn
2 Sticks melted butter or margarine
optional: 2 tsp sugar – to make your cake even sweeter. Generic brands of Creamed Corn sometimes need the extra sugar boost.
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.
- Mix together the Cornbread mix, creamed corn, and melted butter until combined.
- Pour the mixture into a 8×8″ inch baking pan. (You can also split between two loaf pans)
- Cook approximately 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
See what I mean? It’s so simple! This cake is so delicious too. It’s moist, dense, and everything right about cornbread. This is so easy to throw together that I make it often. My favorite is to serve it with grilled chicken and vegetables. This was my first time using Fleischmann’s cornbread mix and it was really great. I would definitely use it again.
Fleishmann’s has a whole line of Simply Homemade bread mixes. You can find out more about them at their website.

I would have never thought to add sugar to it. I will have to try it. I don’t have a favorite way to eat cornbread, but I do add the cream of corn to any boxed cornbread I’ve made. The cream of corn just makes it tastes better.
