This is my little Ms Foxy. I think she’s adorable! I decided to try refashioning some of her older brothers pants into shorts for her.
This what we started with. A pair of pants that never actually fit Joshua. Way too big in the waist.
The first thing I did was remove the pocket, so I could change it to a back pocket. It’s hard to see but there is some red stitching going across the pocket on both sides of the white.
Next I trimmed the shorts to the old pocket seams and hemmed the legs.
I took some of the pleated ribbon I used on the headbands and stitched down the center of the ribbon. I made sure there was a little hanging over on each end so that I could wrap the ribbon around to the back of the pocket and not worry about loose ends sticking out or fraying ribbon.
I’ve always wanted to take an up-close sewing picture. I positioned the pocket on the back and sewed it on, following the old seam lines.
I added some rhinestones to the red ribbon tags on the front to try and girl it up a bit more.
Here is my cute little model. Poor thing, I had to tuck in her shirt so you could see her bling.
Here is another pic of her rosette headband.
Now I am asking for help. I think the shorts could use a little something extra. I am stumped though. I’d LOVE any ideas.

You could add a cute ribbon for a belt and tie a cute bow in the front. 🙂

Oh I love the ribbon belt idea. Thanks for the suggestion! The only two belt loops are the ones on the front. I wonder how I could pull that off the best. Hmmm.

This is such a great refashion. If you’re asking about adding something more to the shorts, how about scalloped eyelet trim around the bottom?

Very cute and she is cute as a button!

You could sew a ribbon and belt and use the same rosette that you used for the headband as the fastener on the belt. Or add some of the same ribbon from the headband to the bottom of the shorts as a trim.

Ok, so I’ve been thinking about the ribbon belt some more. I think I found a solution to the 2 belt loop problem. I found a pair of pants with a ribbon belt in my daughter’s closet. The ribbon was just sewn in the middle of the back of the pants and then run through the belt loops in the front for the bow.
P.S. I like the strawberry applique!

That is a good idea to sew the ribbon on the back. I also found a belt on another pair of pants that has a sequined belt that would look cute with the applique. I’ll have to give it a try.
Thanks for all your suggestions. It has been so helpful!

you could add some fabric or ribbon in a matching color to the hem.
