Every little girl needs a place to keep all there cute little hair bows. This is what I came up with.
What you need:
- Wood Sign
- Wire Purse Handle – mine came from michaels
- Acrylic Paint(Not pictured)
- Background Paper
- Letters for your sign
- 9 feet of 1″ wide ribbon(this is for hanging the bows on)
- 3-6 different types of ribbon to embellish.
- Mod Podge
Step 1: Insert your wire purse handle into the sign. We drilled some small holes and jammed them in there pretty good. We didn’t use any glue and it has been holding strong for quite a while now.
Step 2: Paint your Sign. I did a few quotes of white to prime and then a pink.
Step 3: Cut out and mod podge your background paper. Mine is weird shape so I awkwardly traced it and then trimmed up after I mod podged it on.
Step 4: While your mod podge is drying. Cut and heat seal 1 million small pieces of ribbon in your coordinating colors. Each piece was a bout 4″ long. Tie them onto your purse handle with a double knot.
Step 5: Glue your wider ribbon to the back. I just used glue, but if I had staples for my staple gun, I probably would have gone that route. Each of my three pieces was 3 feet long, which gives me LOADS of barrette room. Shorter would be just fine too!
Step 6: Make lots of pretty hair things and hang on the wall!
I am all about keeping it real, so I think that if I was going to make another one like this I might take advantage that it looks like a purse and maybe take it that route a little more.
That being said, I love it and it definitely fills its purpose.
