Let me start out by saying how much I love the Ikea As-is section. It is filled with returns, displays, scratch and dents, and everything else under the sun. If you have the slightest bit of fixer-upper in you, it is the place to go. Today’s project started out as this Besta Tombo glass door, which retails for $40. I found it hanging out in the As-is section for $0.99. That’s right 99 cents! It was missing the hinges, which is probably how it ended up in As-is. Who cares! I didn’t need a glass door. I didn’t write up a full tutorial, but if anyone is interested, I can put something together.
and I ended up with this! As you can tell, it is a birthday gift for someone. I hope she loves it. I’m a little jealous to be giving it away. 🙂
I stop by the As-is section often, so this won’t be the last Ikea project you see!

How cool! I had no idea that IKEA had an as is section. I am definitely going to look for that the next time I go!

very cool! I thought about doing this with just a picture frame, but couldn’t find one cheap enough, and i don’t live close to an IKEA! I ended up just using a regular white board to keep chores under control (http://amy-newnostalgia.blogspot.com/2010/03/white-board-for-chores.html)
I love your idea of giving it as a gift!
Thanks for sharing at Tip Junkie’s Tip Me Tuesday…that is where I found you!

Darn cute! I dont live close enough to IKEA to get there often, but when I do, I head right through the maze to the “as is” section. LOL

Katie- The markers rub right off. They are dry erase markers. It’s great.

Wow it looks great. I just relocated to central Texas where we have an IKEA a few miles away. I have never been in one because there wasn’t a store near by. I have to check out their sales.
Thanks for the info!
