I don’t remember where I saw it first, but as soon as I saw this Inside Out Caramel Apple at Random Thoughts of a Supermom, I knew I had to try it.
Caramel and peanuts baked inside an apple. Yummy!

Here is my attempt(via my cell phone camera):
It was delicious. Here is what I learned in the process.
- I used a Extra Large honeycrisp apple and it was HUGE. Consequently it took much longer to cook in the oven and I never got it as done as the original looked in the picture. I liked it still had some bite to it.
- Using such a large apple, I wanted to keep in as much of the flesh as possible. So my ratio of caramel and nuts to apple was much different than the original, but I really liked it still.
- I put a pat of margarine on my apple like the tutorial said and after it was cooked I ended up trying to blot it off with a napkin. Maybe if I had cooked it longer it would have soaked into the apple and not been greasy looking? Maybe I needed to use some real butter? Next time I will experiment more.
Would I recommend it to someone else? Absolutely! Will I make it again? Absolutely!
Once again, here is the original recipe: Inside Out Caramel Apple
If you experiment with the recipe, let me know. I’d love to hear what you did and how it turned out!

Okay so I actually tried this recipe tonight and Loved it! We had kind of had small apples in our fridge and used them. I baked 5 of them for 30 min and then kept them in for another 10 min. It was a hit at our house! Everyone Loved them!
