Father’s Day was a little underwhelming in my opinion. We had a busy weekend and I didn’t really feel like I did a good enough job celebrating my husband. He has had his Father’s Day present for a few weeks and I can never feel like it’s a real holiday without some present opening. Well Monday morning I was catching up with Google Reader and I saw a post on iCandy about this adorable Star Wars kit on Sandy Toes and Popsicles.
I actually pinned it on Pinterest figuring I would save it for a Star Wars themed party or next Father’s Day. After I couldn’t stop thinking about it, I decided I just couldn’t wait and I declared Tuesday a Father’s Day do-over. Here are some pictures of the Star Wars kit.
Wookie Cookies, Droid Chips(pringles), Yoda Soda, and Vaderade. The R2D2 Chips might be my favorite. The original instructions call for cutting the pringle can size down. Instead of doing that, I bought fat free Pringles which come in a shorter can and just added a strip of blue from the Leia buns to cover the difference.
There is a tutorial for making the Wookie messenger bag too.
Here is everything tucked inside!
This is what Daddy came home to in his chair. I love the little ammo straps on the bag handle.
Thanks for the great printables Sandy Toes and Popsicles! She had several other cute food labels that I didn’t use, so I highly recommend checking them out. The link to the printables and messenger bag tutorial are at the end of her post.
I do want to show I wasn’t a complete slacker for actual Father’s Day. A local grocery store, Bashas, let kids decorate a cake for their Dad’s for $5 on the Saturday before. It was a great deal and the kids had a blast. They each got to decorate their own cake. One made Daddy’s and the other one did Grandpa’s cake.
Dad’s also got in free at Jester’z Improv if they brought a child with them. So little man got to go out with Mommy and Daddy.
Sorry for the terrible quality picture. Cell phone pics, what can you say?
I hope everyone had a wonderful Father’s Day weekend. Coming up soon will be a recap of Crafting Arizona!
