Today I have a really delicious recipe to share with you today from Dole. It is for Pineapple Teriyaki Turkey Burgers. They were seriously delicious! I have never had something Teriyaki flavored before and it was awesome. We had a friend come over for dinner to try it out and she loved it too!
The star of this recipe is the Dole Pineapple slices. You also use some of the juice from the pineapple in the burgers. It adds a great flavor to your burgers. I also like that it looks so much fancier than a regular hamburger. Presentation is important!
Now that your taste buds are all worked up, here is the recipe:
Pineapple Teriyaki Turkey Burgers
Ingredients:
1 can (20 oz.) DOLE® Pineapple Slices
1/2 cup teriyaki sauce
2 lbs. ground turkey or chicken
1 teaspoon fresh grated ginger
1/2 cup Panko bread crumbs
8 whole grain hamburger buns
8 slices Cheddar or Monterey Jack Cheese
Directions:
1. Drain pineapple; reserve 1/2 cup juice. Reserve 2 pineapple slices for snack or other use.
2. Stir together teriyaki sauce and reserved pineapple juice in small bowl.
3. Mix together turkey, ginger, bread crumbs and 1/4 cup teriyaki mixture. Shape into 8 patties.
Patties marinated with Teriyaki sauce |
Grilling Tip: Make a little crater in the center of your burgers. This keeps them from swelling up when they go on the grill. The burgers will even out when you cook them and the finished patties will look normal with no crater.
4. Grill patties, brushing with remaining teriyaki mixture, until brown and cooked through. Place pineapple slices on grill and cook until lightly golden brown.
5. Serve burgers on buns with cheese and pineapple.
The burger was so tender and juicy. The ginger, and teriyaki gave the patty a really nice flavor. I use ground turkey a fair bit but I have never made turkey burgers. My husband said they were so tender and delicious that we have to this more often.

I was at a restaurant the other day that served a regular hamburger with grilled pineapple. I didn’t try it since there were so many options, but it’s something I will definitely try at home now. I’m one of those people who always has pineapple as a topping on my pizza, so why not on a burger.
