It is official spring time here in Arizona! This time of year is the reason so many people love to live here. I try and drink in every minute of the great weather because I know it will get hot much too soon for my liking.
With spring on my mind, I was so tickled to be asked to participate in the Better Homes and Gardens room refresh challenge. This month the challenge is to refresh my outdoor living space.
Well we don’t really spend too much time in our own outdoor living space, but we spend a lot of time in my parents backyard. They have a great play structure and in the summer they put up a swimming pool. The kids love going to play in Grandma’s backyard, and I love that they are spending time outdoors. Let’s see the before picture and then I can tell you a little bit about it.
There is an old white table that is absolutely gross. My Dad is big into smoking meats and barbecuing and he uses the table for his dirty tools. Those aren’t shadows on the table, it is just stained. After about 9am the table isn’t shaded either. We really needed to make this space more comfortable, so the adults can sit and watch the kids play.
I was given $250 to shop the BHG line exclusively available at Walmart. I found a lot of great things. I would have really loved to replace the whole patio set, but that was a little outside the budget. However, I can’t wait to show you what I did do.
Tada!
It feels like a completely different space. I covered up that nasty table with a tablecloth we had on hand. Then I picked up a nice big umbrella and stand, some chair cushions and added a planter and some flowers. I love it! One of our favorite family activities is to use our little tabletop hibachi to make s’mores. The kids loved the s’mores for a fun snack after playing.
Here are all the products I picked up from the Better Homes and Gardens at Walmart line if you would like to recreate this look.
Top Left going clockwise: 9′ Rectangle Umbrella (in store only), Green Tulip Medallion Wrought Iron seat cushions, Bombay planter(green), Cast Iron Umbrella stand (online only)
Here is one more ‘after’ shot that is a little closer in. I am just so happy with the way everything turned out. I really like the green and tan together. I love how the flowers in the planter just add that extra bit of color.
I got to have a wonderful time sprucing up my Outdoor Living space. Well, you have a chance to do the same thing too! Better Homes and Gardens is having a Pin to Win $1000 Room refresh sweepstakes. Wouldn’t $1,000 be great to spruce up your home?
To enter the sweepstakes go to the Pin to Win Facebook app and enter your information. From there you will get instructions to pin 4 pictures from BHG at Walmart to plan your patio refresh.I hope you head over and enter. Someone has to win, it might as well be you!

It’s always amazing how a few ‘accessories’ can really dress a place up. I wish we had such an inviting back yard.

Love the umbrella! The cushions really change the chairs too – great job!
