My son LOVES Minecraft. I’m sure I’m not the only parent that gets to hear about it non-stop. I haven’t seen too much in the way of merchandising for Minecraft yet, so I thought it would be fun to make some things for my son’s lunchbox.
For these projects I used my Silhouette to cut out the shapes in vinyl, but a creeper face would be very easy to do by hand.
For uninitiated, a creeper is a green bad guy who sneaks up behind your character and explodes. The little snack box has a Minecraft cookie on it. Your player has to eat and a cookie is one of the many food items you can make.
I will break down everything I did, so you can recreate it if you want.
Creeper Water bottle:
The Water bottle came from Michael’s. You can find lots of choices on Amazon too. I did a Google Image search for creeper face and made my design from there. This is a great image to use from Instructables.
Creeper Sandwich holder:
The sandwich holder also came from Michael’s. There are also tons of sandwich containers on Amazon too. I used the same creeper face and added my sons name with the MineCrafter font. The font is available for free download at dafont.
Cookie Snack box:
The snack box came from Dollar Tree. They are 2/$1. I created a layered cookie design, which I will share with you here. Click the links to get the Minecraft Cookie SVG, Minecraft Cookie .Studio file. (Note: Google Docs can’t generate previews of SVG and .STUDIO files. Select File>Download to save, or hit CTRL+S on your keyboard to download)
Glow in the dark Creeper Backpack:
I love the backpack I found at Kohl’s. In fact, I’ll be doing a whole post on all the great back to school things I found at Kohl’s very soon. I think it is just perfect for this Minecraft theme.
To make the backpack:
- Cut a freezer paper stencil of a square and iron on to your surface. Make sure the edges are nice and secure so you can get clean paint lines.
- Paint few coats of green acrylic paint. To make it glow in the dark add a few coats of glow in the dark fabric paint on top of the acrylic paint.
- For the face, create a stencil and iron on top of the square.
- Paint with black fabric or acrylic paint.
- After the paint has dried for several hours, lightly iron the design to set the paint.

I am so excited to have found this page! My son is named Jasper, he is 8 and addicted to Minecraft and wants accessories for school. As you know the merchandise pickings is slim. I happened to have found a backpack/lunchbox & accessory set at Staples that is sort of camo but little Minecraft like blocks, so I think now I will buy that and use your ideas to customize! He will be VERY excited….thanks so much!
