It’s Girl Scout Cookie season! This post was sponsored by Mom It Forward and Girl Scouts of America. All opinions and overwhelming cookie cravings are my own.
I was a girl scout growing up and it is one of my most cherished memories of my child hood. I loved all the fun activities, the troop meetings, Girl Scout Camp, learning new skills and earning badges, and most of all being a part of a group. I’m definitely an introvert and I prefer to do things on my own. Girl Scouts was really good for me to get used to being with and interacting with groups of girls. It also helped teach me how much you can accomplish when working together as a team. We are getting ready to register my daughter for Girl Scouts and I am really so excited for her to have some of the same experiences that I had.
It’s Cookie season which brings up all sorts of childhood memories for me. Selling cookies really forced me out of my shell. I had to talk to people and ask them to purchase cookies. The sense of accomplishment from making a sale, was a great self esteem booster. This year, Girl Scout cookie sales are a little different. They are skipping the pre-orders and going to direct sales. That means if you see a Girl Scout with some cookies, you can buy them on the spot, go back to your car and begin inhaling your cookies right away. No need for those weeks of cookie anticipation.
Starting February 7, 2014 it is National Girl Scout Cookie Weekend. The weekend is kicking off with a green carpet event in New York City. You can do to the Girl Scout Cookie Weekend site and get info on all the cookies. They even have a Cookie Finder app, so you can find the nearest Girl Scout Cookie sale. Girl Scout Cookies are only going to be on sale for about six weeks. Make sure you buy early and often! Those thin mints are going to go quickly, I bet.
What’s your favorite Girl Scout Cookie? My absolute favorite is frozen thin mints. Wowee, those are to die for! Freezing them really gives the mint an extra kick. A close second are the Samoas. You can’t go wrong with coconut and caramel in my opinion.
For more information about Girl Scouts and Cookie Weekend you can check out the Girl Scouts of America on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest.
What’s your favorite cookie? Leave a comment with your favorite and why. Maybe this year I’ll branch out a little and try some new cookies.

I really love trefoils. Last year I had a hard time finding anyone selling cookies and by the time I did it was at a booth set up outside a store selling their leftover cookies and they only had four or five different ones….I was so dissapointed. I don’t know any kids who are in Girl Scouts so I have to search to find cookies…..I want to buy some this year for us….guess it’s time to look for them. Maybe the app will help me locate someone. I was in Girl Scouts years ago and I don’t think there has been a single year in the last 25+ that I haven’t bought Girl Scout cookies…..
