Labor Day is just a week away! I thought it would be fun to share some s’mores recipes as a final farewell to summer. Although truth be told, here in Arizona, summer lasts until mid-October. My whole family loves s’mores and it is fun to think of different ways to incorporate those flavors into different desserts.
I was at the store a week ago and I found some Marshmallow candy melts by Wilton. I thought that seemed like a perfect starter for some s’mores dipped pretzels.
My kids are always asking to help in the kitchen and this was a perfect family activity. Let me tell you how we did it.
S’mores Dipped Pretzels
Ingredients:
- Pretzel Rods
- Marshmallow Candy Melts
- Graham cracker crumbs
- Chocolate flavored almond bark
- Jet Puffed Mallow Bites – Tiny Marshmallows
- Wilton Tall Dipping Containers
Directions:
- Melt Marshmallow candy melts in a tall dipping container. Microwave for 30 second intervals on power level 5. Stir between each heating. Dip the pretzel in the marshmallow candy melts and gently shake off the excess candy melts. Sprinkle graham cracker crumbs on top, leaving about an inch of plain white marshmallow at the top. Let set on a sheet of parchment paper.
- Heat the chocolate almond bark using the same method as step one. Dip the pretzel in the almond bark, leaving about 1 inch of graham cracker showing. Gently shake off any excess chocolate and set on the parchment paper.
- To finish the pretzels, sprinkle some of the Mallow bites on the very end of the pretzel. Let set completely and then serve.
My six and eight year old made their own pretzels and they did a great job. They only time I helped was showing them how to shake off the excess chocolate. They heard shake and started to go a little crazy . Here are some of the ones that they did. I was really impressed for their first time. I took care of heating up the candy, but they did everything else on their own. It really gave them a sense of accomplishment too!
What’s your favorite way to eat s’mores? Let me know in the comments!
