I don’t get as much time as I would like to read, but I do love books. I especially love young adult fiction. I love that they are usually fun reads with engaging story lines. I especially like young adult fiction because it is not as graphic in either violence or “romance.” My favorite book to read fall into the dystopian literature category. If you aren’t familiar with the term, Dystopian Literature usually centers around a fallen or degraded civilization. Things are usually pretty bad there and the books tend to focus on a hero that is fighting against this broken societal system. I love this genre because it gives you an alternate look at the future. They are always really thought provoking too.

The Divergent Series is one of my favorite book series in the dystopian genre. It is a hugely popular series of books and they are being made into movies. Hopefully you have already seen the first movie based on the series, Divergent. March 20, 2015 the second movie The Divergent Series: Insurgent hits theatres. I am so excited to go and see the movie. I would say this calls for a girls night out, but my husband loves the series too, so I guess we’ll call it date night!

Here are my top four reasons that you should go and see The Divergent Series: Insurgent

1. The hero of the story is a girl. Tris, the heroine, is a strong young woman and I think we need more movies like this that model strong, smart, independent young women as heroes.
   
2. While based on a young adult fiction series, The Divergent Series appeals to teens and adults. Plenty of action, excitement, suspense, and drama for men, women, young, and old.
   
3. The movie encourages us to be ourselves and break the mold. For those unfamiliar with the storyline, the whole society is divided into factions that each value one trait above all else. The factions are: Abnegation(Selflessness), Erudite(Intelligence), Dauntless(Bravery), Amity(Peacekeeping), Candor(Truth). The Divergent are those individuals that possess the aptitude for more than one faction. I want both of my children to grow up as strong independent people that strive to be their best and not worry about fitting in with the crowd. The Divergent Series as a whole is all about that.
   
4. The Divergent Series: Insurgent will be released in in 2D, Digital 3D,  and RealD™ 3D. Depending on your tastes you can see the action, exciting stunts, and stunning visuals in a plethora of ways. We have an IMAX® 3D close to our house. I think I want to see it there. I can just imagine feeling like I’m really there.
