Disclosure: I participated in an Influencer Activation for Guy Fieri Sausage. I received product samples to facilitate my review as well as a promotional item to thank me for my participation.
I have been watching Guy Fieri on TV ever since he appeared as a contestant on Next Food Network Star. I have always loved his charisma as well as his food knowledge. I love watching Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives to see where Guy is eating and where he is traveling to. Most of those places I will never get to eat at myself, but I often get inspiration for food to make at home. Today’s recipe is a great example of that.
I was really excited to learn that Guy Fieri has a line of sausages available at Walmart. I’ve seen him make sausage many times on TV and he knows his stuff. I decided to try the new sausages out in a classic Italian recipe, Sausage and Peppers. Guy Fieri Sausages come in several varieties including, Italian Pork Sausage, Mozzarella and Parmesan Cheese Pork Sausage, and Fajita Seasoned Chicken Sausage. For sausage and peppers, the Italian Sausage seemed like the most obvious choice.
- 12 oz Guy Fieri Italian Sausage (4 links)
- 3 bell peppers, various colors, sliced
- 1 onion, sliced
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
- 2 cloves chopped garlic
- 1 Tbsp tomato paste
- ½ cup chicken stock
- Hoagies - optional
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet on medium high heat. Brown the sausage on all sides, approximately 12 minutes. Remove the sausage from the pan and set aside.
- While the sausage is browning, slice the bell peppers and onion. Turn the heat up to high and add the peppers and onions to the pot. Stir frequently, cook the vegetables until they are soft. This will take approximately 5-7 minutes.
- Turn the heat back down to medium and add the tomato paste, chopped garlic, and tomato paste. Add the sausage back into the pan. Cook everything together for about 5 minutes, or until the sauce thickens.
- Serve the sausage and peppers on a hoagie roll, over pasta, or just on their own.
Just look at those beautiful sausages and check out that steam!Wondering what we thought about the sausage? It was really good! The sausage comes in a natural pork casing and I really liked that. It felt like you were eating real deli sausage. I also liked that when you bit into the sausage you could actually see the different ingredients. It wasn’t some overly processed homogeneous mixture. We tried both the Italian Style Sausage and the Mozzarella and Parmesan Cheese. My favorite was the Mozzarella and Parmesan Cheese. It has Italian flavors as well as the two cheeses.
As a Guy Fieri fan, I really think that these sausage live up to his name. I’m really excited to give the Fajita Seasoned Sausages a try next. I love all things Mexican, so I’m excited to give them a try. I think I will give them a try on the grill. I’m sure they will take me straight to Flavortown!
