Earlier this week, I had the opportunity to see a media preview of the newest Marvel movie Ant-Man. I’ll be honest, I mostly went because my husband LOVES all the Marvel movies and I could bring a +1. I wasn’t familiar with Ant-Man and wasn’t too sure I was going to like this movie. Let me tell you, I was so wrong! I loved it, in fact it might be one of my favorite Marvel movies of the whole franchise. I’ll get into more movie details in a bit, but trust me, go see Ant -Man this weekend.
As I watched the movie there were two different liquids that play a big part in the movie. One was the Pym particle, which was a red fluid that enables Ant-Man to shrink. The other was a yellow liquid developed by the villain Darren Cross, which powers the Yellowjacket suit. As soon as I saw these liquids, I knew I had to re-imagine them as party punch. I guess that’s what happens when you are a food blogger. You leave an action filled super hero movie thinking about punch.
For the sake of alliteration and clarity, I am calling my punch creations Pym Particle Potion and Yellowjacket Juice. These would make a fun addition to any Marvel Avengers themed party or a villians and heroes theme event.
- Strawberry Breeze Juice Concentrate
- 1 liter Club Soda
- 46 oz Pineapple Juice
- Pinapple juice concentrate
- 1 liter seltzer water
- 46 oz Pineapple Juice
- The instructions are the same for both punches so I will only list them once. Refrigerate the Seltzer water, and Pineapple Juice.
- Pour the juice concentrate, seltzer water, and pinapple juice into a 3 quart or larger pitcher. Mix all the ingredients with a spoon until completely combined.
- Refrigerate until ready to serve or serve immediately.
What I really love about this is the fun ants crawling up the sides of the bottles. I totally creeped my son out by it. I found some Wilton bug sprinkles and they were so perfect for this project. Technically, they are generic bugs and not anatomically correct ants, but they do look a lot like ants. The giant plastic ants are really meant to be cake toppers. Ant-Man interacts with lots of different ants of different sizes, so it was pretty perfect. To attach the ants, I melted some chocolate almond bark and then applied the melted chocolate to the bottle and stuck the ants on. It was actually a lot easier than I anticipated. I loved the effect. I used the same technique to apply the ants to the paper straws.
Let’s jump back and talk about the Ant-Man movie a bit more. Possible spoilers ahead. Head to page 2 to see if I’ll be taking the kids to see Ant-Man.
