The cupcakes were beyond darling. Here’s a close-up. I found some compressed sugar dog and paw print decorations. The dog faces were so realistic and detailed. The kids and parents were shocked they were edible, everyone thought they were plastic. The paw prints came in white and I colored in the paw pads with food color markers. I wanted them nice and colorful since it was an art party.
The pudding cups were almost as easy. Store bought pudding cups, crushed sandwich cookies, bone sprinkles, and a bone spoon. To be truthful, I found the little bone spoons first and had to have them. I worked backwards to come up with something that you would eat with a spoon. I assembled these on site. I crushed the cookies at home and then once we got to As You Wish, I opened the pudding cups and sprinkled the crushed cookies and bone sprinkles. So easy and fun!
Here’s a picture of the whole spoon. So cute right? I have looked extensively online for a source for these without much luck. Your best bet is to check with your local cake supply store or even ebay. I bought all the food decorations and spoons from ABC Cake Decorating in Phoenix. They do ship from their website cakearts.com. Unfortunately, they don’t have the bone spoons available now.
The birthday girl sure loved her cupcakes!
While the birthday girl opened up her presents, we handed out some goody boxes. I know not everyone loves them but I still like them. I especially loved the dog themed options I was able to pick up from Oriental Trading Company. I made the thank you picture but everything else came from Oriental Trading. I’ll list what each item is with links below.
Dog House Boxes, Dog Plush, Dog Stickers, Dog and Cat Scratch art, Dog Collar bracelet, Dog and Cat Lollipops(Not pictured), Dog Characters
I have recently discovered a love for stock photos. That’s where the elements for the invitation came from. There were so many cute dogs with paint, that’s why we came up with the thank you pictures for the goody bags. In addition to the one above, I made a girlier version. I mean, how could you not? Turns out that painting puppies are the cutest thing around!
After the goody boxes were handed out and the presents were open, it was time to go. Two hours flies by when you’re having fun. We grabbed a group shot of everyone with their canvases and everyone went home. Just so you can get an idea we had kids ranging from 5-10 years old. We packed up our stuff but Charis told us to just leave all the mess and she would take care of it. Try doing that when you throw a party at home. Ha!
We had a wonderful experience at As You Wish and we would absolutely do it again. We’ve painted pottery there many times before, but I really enjoyed the canvas painting party. I’ll be honest and say I think there are a few advantages over painting pottery. The first is that everyone can take home their finished project when the party is over. For pottery, you have to wait for it be fired and go back 3 days later. The other big advantage is that you can hang a canvas on the wall. My house is full to the ceiling of little knick knacks. I love that these canvases are going to be hung in the kids bedrooms and not collect dust on the shelf!
You can get all the details for throwing your own party at As You Wish on their website. You can even book your party and pay your deposit online!
Disclosure: As You Wish provided us with a party package free of charge for review purposes. All opinions are my own. All other products mentioned were purchased by me.
