Have you ever felt like the boogie man was out to get you? I don’t mean literally, but sometimes it just seems like you’re getting attacked on all sides. That was my week. Early in the week, I started getting emails and texts from on online retailer confirming that my address and email was changed and my text alerts were turned off. I totally panicked because a friend had just told me about how her account had been hacked and her credit card information was stored in the system so they made hundreds of dollars of electronics purchases. This was not a good feeling.
I called immediately and they confirmed that all of my information had been changed to someone else and a purchase made. The silver lining was that I had a gift card stored in their system. It was not a charge to my credit card! Hallelujah! Everything was straightened out in the end but it made for a stressful afternoon.
Then I started getting emails from a bank where I am not a member talking about my new account. Um, what? I know what to look for in regards to a phishing scam and these emails are legit or the most professional phishing emails I’ve ever seen. I called and spoke with the bank and I think everything is fine but I’m still feeling a little paranoid about that one.
Hackers, scammers, phishers(I think I just made up a word), and just bad people are coming at us all the time. I work on the Internet so I can’t exactly just walk away and transport myself back to the mid-90s. So what do we do and who can we trust to protect us from the dangers we know about and those we don’t.
Well, today I started using F-Secure Safe as part of a sponsored partnership. It’s got all the bases covered for my internet security and peace of mind. It does:
- Virus protection
- Browsing and banking protection
- Network protection
- Family protection by way of parental controls.
The best part is that it handles all of these things across all of your devices. Tablets, cell phones, PCs, Apple Computers, it does it all. It’s even Windows 10 compatible. I wish I had started using it last week, maybe I could have avoided the online headaches this week!
I think I’m most excited to really try out the parental controls. We haven’t really used parental controls so far but with a tween and a near tween, we are definitely to the point where I’d feel better if we had them. The kids are used to browsing the internet at school where there are filters, so they think they can come home and just start googling. Sometimes I have a hard time getting them to understand that Internet at home is different than school internet.
Here’s a short little video about F-Secure SAFE.
I’m going to be going more in-depth into some of the features and what I like about it next week, but I really wanted to tell you about F-Secure SAFE now. My favorite part about F-Secure Safe is that they have a free trial. Not just any kind of free trial though, it’s 4 whole months! The best part is that you aren’t required to provide credit card or banking information to get the trial. No tricky, “Oh looks like you forgot to cancel your trial, so we charged your card without warning.” F-Secure SAFE knows you’ll love the peace of mind and safety and you’ll be excited to keep going when the trial period is up.
I encourage you to head over to F-Secure SAFE portal and start your free trial. You can go on this adventure with me.
