I am long overdue for a health update. It’s coming soon, I promise! Let’s just get a quick recap going. In April 2016, I was morbidly obese and decided to change that through lifestyle changes, namely a 1200 calorie a day diet and daily exercise. Here we are in June 2017, and I have lost 230 pounds. Crazy, right?
Now that I’m eating 1200 calories a day, everything I put in my mouth is extremely important to me. Protein is my #1 priority and I build the rest of my diet around that. Enter Lorissa’s Kitchen and their premium protein snacks. This is not your Dad’s beef jerky. We’re talking about premium cuts of chicken, pork, and beef. What exactly do I mean when I saw premium? I’m referring to responsibly raised, 100% grass fed beef and antibiotic free chicken and pork.
Each serving of Lorissa’s Kitchen meat snacks contains 11 g of protein. So they’ll fill you up but won’t fill you with preservatives, nitrites, growth hormones, or added MSG. Seriously, none of that is in Lorissa’s Kitchen products. Each serving contains 80 calories which totally fits into my own personal diet plan.
One of the biggest challenges to maintaining a healthy diet is being prepared. If I’m not thinking and planning what I’ll be eating for the day, I may find myself stranded without healthy food options. Here’s the perfect example. My family went out for the day at a water park. It was so much fun! Man, can you work up an appetite swimming, and riding water slides. We were there for almost 9 hours! We packed a picnic lunch for ourselves, but I really didn’t think we’d be there so long. Thankfully, I brought my Lorissa’s Kitchen snacks with me and it was the perfect protein boost I needed to keep me going all day long. In addition to being light and very portable, they don’t spoil either. That’s a huge bonus for anyone, but especially beneficial in Arizona.
Lorissa’s Kitchen protein snacks come in four flavors
- Korean Barbeque – Beef
- Szechuan Peppercorn – Beef
- Ginger Teriyaki – Chicken
- Sweet Chili – Pork
I liked all the flavors but I think my favorite was the Sweet Chili Pork cuts. I am a sucker for sweet and heat. My other favorite was the Szechuan Peppercorn steak strips. To me, it seemed the spiciest of the four and that is a win in my book! I had never actually had dried chicken or pork before and they were both really delicious. Very tender! Beef jerky gets its name from being so tough but all of Lorissa’s Kitchen products were very tender and easy to eat.
